Children and an in-law of Sok Kong, a well-known Cambodian tycoon, were handed official “oknha” titles recognizing businesspeople making large donations to the state.
According to a royal decree dated August 2, 2022, and published by the Council of Ministers on March 29, 2023, the king bestowed the oknha title to four family members of oknha Sok Kong: Sok Yak, Sok Chanthy, Sok Chanthou and Nang Sopheat.
According to local newspaper Kampuchea Thmey, Sok Yak is Sok Kong’s eldest son; Sok Chanthy his fifth daughter; and Sok Chanthou his youngest daughter. Cambodian real estate news website Property Area lists Nang Sopheat as Sok Kong’s son-in-law.
Sok Yak is vice president of Sokimex Investment Group, chairman of Sokimex Gasoline and chairman of Bokor Farm.
Sok Chanthy is vice president of Sokha Real Estate, Oknha News has reported.
Sok Chanthou is vice president of Sokimex Investment Group in charge of finance, according to the same article. Sok Chanthou’s husband is Ngin Banal, deputy director-general of the general department of logistics and finance at the Interior Ministry, it says.
Nang Sopheat is the husband of okhna Sok Chantha, the fourth daughter of Sok Kong, according to Property Area.
