The government reclassified 6.6 hectares of state forest land in Preah Sihanouk to transfer to two wives of senior government officials.
According to a sub-decree dated December 5, 2022, and published by the Council of Ministers on April 28, 2023, the government privatized 6.6 hectares of land formerly classified as forest cover in Bit Traing commune, in Preah Sihanouk’s Prey Nob district.
It named Theng Ay Annie and Mok Poponrith as the recipients.
Theng Ay Annie is the wife of late Deputy Prime Minister Sok An, who was in charge of the Council of Ministers. Their son Sok Puthyvuth is married to Prime Minister Hun Sen’s daughter Hun Maly, and is secretary of state at the Telecommunications Ministry.
Mok Poponrith is the wife of Pich Sophoan, delegate minister attached to prime minister and secretary of state at the Labor Ministry.
