{"id":5131,"date":"2023-09-15T10:36:31","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T03:36:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kamnotra.io\/en\/?p=5131"},"modified":"2023-09-15T10:54:07","modified_gmt":"2023-09-15T03:54:07","slug":"public-forest-privatized-for-prime-ministers-delegate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kamnotra.io\/en\/2023\/09\/public-forest-privatized-for-prime-ministers-delegate\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Forest Privatized for Prime Minister\u2019s Delegate"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The government transferred a plot of state forest in Preah Sihanouk to minister delegate Sry Thamarong and his wife for personal ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a sub-decree dated March 6, 2023 in book 25 of the Royal Gazette, released on September 4, then-Prime Minister Hun Sen reclassified 1.2 hectares of state forest Stung Hav district\u2019s Keo Phos commune to state private land to be handed over to Sry Thamarong and Thorng Socheata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sry Thamarong is one of 30 <a href=\"https:\/\/kamnotra.io\/en\/succession\/succession-2023\/delegates\/\">minister delegates<\/a> attached to the prime minister, and is tasked with assisting Hun Manet on international relations. He was also a minister delegate for Hun Manet\u2019s father Hun Sen in previous mandates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/m.freshnewsasia.com\/index.php\/en\/localnews\/287302-2023-04-18-10-44-21.html\">Sry Thamarong and Thorng Socheata are also regular donors<\/a> to Hun Sen\u2019s wife Bun Rany\u2019s Cambodian Red Cross, according to pro-government media outlets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The land grant continues a series of public land transfers to government officials and their families, which have in some cases <a href=\"https:\/\/kamnotra.io\/en\/2023\/08\/boeng-tamok-protesters-go-into-hiding-believe-arrests-imminent\/\">forced the evictions<\/a> of existing nearby residents. The Stung Hav area has been the site of a <a href=\"https:\/\/kamnotra.io\/en\/in-dispute\/land-conflicts\/stung-hav-land-grabs\/\">previous land dispute<\/a> involving ruling-party Senator Lau Meng
