{"id":3983,"date":"2023-08-07T14:47:48","date_gmt":"2023-08-07T07:47:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kamnotra.io\/en\/?p=3983"},"modified":"2023-08-07T14:48:56","modified_gmt":"2023-08-07T07:48:56","slug":"hun-manet-assigned-as-pm-before-national-assembly-sworn-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kamnotra.io\/en\/2023\/08\/hun-manet-assigned-as-pm-before-national-assembly-sworn-in\/","title":{"rendered":"Hun Manet Assigned as PM Before National Assembly Sworn In"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The king has \u201cassigned\u201d Hun Manet as prime minister to form a government for the National Assembly\u2019s new seventh mandate, according to a royal decree circulated by his father Hun Sen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter is dated today, August 7, and comes two days after the National Election Committee released <a href=\"https:\/\/kamnotra.io\/en\/2023\/08\/necs-final-lawmaker-list-brings-1-change\/\">finalized election results<\/a> for the July 23 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The royal decree, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo?fbid=886598529488602&amp;set=a.507222647426194\">posted<\/a> on Facebook by Hun Sen and others, says Hun Manet has been assigned as prime minister to form the government, and must receive a confidence vote from the National Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>National Assembly members are expected to be sworn in on August 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The appointment appears to be based on <a href=\"https:\/\/vodenglish.news\/constitutional-amendments-fill-gaps-in-transition-of-power-justice-minister\/\">constitutional changes last year<\/a> that shifted the responsibility of proposing a new prime minister from the president of the National Assembly to the party with the most seats:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Constitution\u2019s Article 119, old and new, based on an <a href=\"https:\/\/vodenglish.news\/constitutional-amendments-fill-gaps-in-transition-of-power-justice-minister\/\">unofficial translation<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>Old<\/th><th>New<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Upon the proposal of the President of the National Assembly in agreement with the two Vice-Presidents, the King assigns a high ranking personality among the Members of National Assembly from the election winning party, to form the Royal Government.<\/td><td>Upon the proposal of a party with more seats than others in the National Assembly, the King assigns a high ranking personality as a Prime Minister to form the Royal Government.
