Results have started to trickle in from Sunday\u2019s election, with only 18.1% of polling stations reporting results on the NEC\u2019s official website as of 8 p.m. The results were expected to roll in at 7 p.m., four hours after voting ended at 3 p.m., but were delayed by around 20 minutes. By 9 p.m., 56% of votes had been published by the NEC. By 10 p.m., 70% of votes were published.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cambodian People\u2019s Party, as expected, has an outsized lead with 83.5% of the votes counted as of 8 p.m., with the royalist Funcinpec the next best party at 8.5%. As per early trends, spoiled ballots are likely to play a role in the results again, recording 5.5% of the ballots counted so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If these trends continue, CPP Phnom Penh candidate and prime-minister-in-waiting Hun Manet is likely to win a seat from Phnom Penh, where the ruling party enjoys a healthy lead with 84.2% of the votes counted as of 8 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As of 9 p.m., with just under 70% of polling stations counted in Phnom Penh, royalist party Funcinpec has 11.4% of the vote in the capital \u2014 enough to win a National Assembly seat for party president Prince Norodom Chakravuth if the trend holds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By 10 p.m., the number of invalid votes cast had reached 301,593, with results available from 70% of polling stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kamnotra is also awaiting official voter turnout numbers for each province after a flurry of unofficial lists were published by government officials today. The NEC published only one official turnout document at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
