{"id":2964,"date":"2023-07-13T10:30:58","date_gmt":"2023-07-13T03:30:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kamnotra.io\/en\/?p=2964"},"modified":"2023-07-20T11:29:06","modified_gmt":"2023-07-20T04:29:06","slug":"hun-manith-handed-rank-equivalent-to-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kamnotra.io\/en\/2023\/07\/hun-manith-handed-rank-equivalent-to-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"Hun Manith Handed Rank Equivalent to Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Documents promoting Prime Minister Hun Sen\u2019s son Hun Manith to a rank equivalent to minister and tycoon Ly Yong Phat as Hun Sen\u2019s personal adviser have been officially released in the Royal Gazette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two royal decrees, dated December 6, 2022, were included in book No. 5 of the gazette for 2023, released by the Council of Ministers on June 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first document, Hun Manith and four others were given ranks equivalent to minister. The four others are Chhiv Yiseang, a Foreign Affairs Ministry official; Pan Khem Bunthorn, an official in the prime minister\u2019s cabinet; Slat Sopheap; and Hak Sokhay. All five received their new ranks in addition to their current positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hun Manith currently heads the Defence Ministry\u2019s intelligence department. He was also recently appointed a deputy commander in the armed forces, according to a government sub-decree from March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second document appointed tycoon Ly Yong Phat to be a personal adviser to Prime Minister Hun Sen with a rank equivalent to minister and no salary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ly Yong Phat is a senator for the ruling Cambodian People\u2019s Party, and is known for his businesses spanning satellite city developments, casinos, a zoo, television and sugar plantations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is also president of the newly formed Cambodia Oknha Association.<\/p>\n\n\n<div
